Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is a 2018 Tamil Action flick was written and directed by Mani Ratnam. The story depicts the power struggle between three brothers to conquer their father’s empire after his demise and their eventual fate. The star cast includes Aravind Swamy, Arun Vijay, Silambarasan, Vijay Sethupathi, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh, Dayana Erappa and Prakash Raj. Casting Silambarasan drew protests from other film producers due to his lack of cooperation for a previous film but Mani Ratnam chose to retain him. The film was produced by Mani Ratnam along with A. Subaskaran under their production banners Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions. Few scenes were shot in Kovalam Beach after which media reports suggested that the production team was littering the area which made it dangerous for public use these claims were refuted by the executive producer. It features music composed by AR Rahman and lyrics penned by Vairamuthu. The cinematography was done by Santosh Sivan and editing was done by A. Sreekar Prasad. The film was released on 27 September 2018 by Lyca Productions. The movie occupies a screen time of 143 minutes and got a UA certificate from the Censor Board. It was successful at the box office with a collection of INR 108 crores.
