Chocolat is a 2000 English-language Drama Romance film written by Joanne Harris and Robert Nelson Jacobs. The movie is directed by Lasse Hallstrom and produced by David Brown, Kit Golden and Leslie Holleran. A woman and her daughter open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community. Chocolat features Alfred Molina, Carrie-anne Moss, Aurelien Parent Koenig, Antonio Gil, Hélène Cardona, Harrison Pratt and João Costa Menezes. Chocolat was made on a budget of ₹9 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹6 crore. At the 2001 European Film Awards It won an award for Best European Actress (Juliette Binoche).
