Dashakriya is a 2017 Marathi-language Drama movie directed by Sandeep Bhalachandra Patil and produced by Kalpana Vilas Kothari. Dashakriya features Dilip Prabhavalkar in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Manoj Joshi, Aditi Deshpande, Nandkishor Chougulep, Aarya Adhav, Kishore Chougule and Vinayak Ghadigaonkar. The music was composed by Amitraj. Cinematography was done by Mahesh Aney and editing by Sunil Jadhav. It was released on 17th November 2017. The Krivant, a section of the Brahmin community that performs the last rite rituals are despised by the rest of the Brahmin community for commercializing it and emotionally exploiting the family of the deceased. The movie, whilst revealing the disturbing reality around the commercialization of the last rites, also showcases how the kids of the Kirvants inadvertently get involved in the business due to extreme poverty.
