The father of a dying woman pays a con artist to make his daughter's final year a happy one. Ek saal features Balan K. Nair in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Ratheesh, Mammootty, T. G. Ravi, Kuthiravattam Pappu, Krishnachandran and Ashok Kumar Ganguly. The music was composed by Ravi along with Shyam. Cinematography was done by S. S. Chandramohan and C. E. Babu and editing by K. Narayanan. It was released on 1st January 1957. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Geo Pictures.
