The American film Escape Room is an enigmatic thriller that depicts the life of six strangers who are sent into to maze as players to navigate their way out but are trapped and the turn of events that follows. The story was conceived by Bragi F. Schut and the screenplay was written by Maria Melnik and Bragi Schut. The movie was directed by Adam Robitel. The star cast includes Taylor Russell, Logan Miller, Deborah Ann Woll, Tyler Labine, Nike Dodani, Jay Ellis and Yorick Van Wageningen. The film was produced by Neal H. Moritz and Ori Marmur. The production companies involved in the making were Columbia Pictures and Original Film. The distribution rights was acquired by Sony Pictures and was released on January 4, 2019, in the United States. It was released much later in South Africa on March 22, 2019. The movie was captured by Marc Spicer and edited by Steven Mirkovich. The soundtrack was composed by Brian Tyler and John Carey. Sony Music Entertainment released the music along with the Escape Room Theme which was done by Madsonik and Kill the Noise.

Initially, the film began under the Title The Maze later the name was changed to Escape Room. From late 2017 through January 2018 the shooting for the movie was scheduled and it was shot entirely in South Africa. The estimated budget was $ 9 million and it engrossed $ 155.2 million worldwide making it a successful movie at the box office. The movie has a run time of 100 minutes and received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. The sequel of the movie is expected to release on August 14, 2020.
