Fear is a 1946 English-language Drama Film-Noir movie directed by Alfred Zeisler and produced by Lindsley Parsons. In this Americanized retelling of Dostoevsky' Crime and Punishment, a medical student--broke, hungry and desperate for money--murders a loan shark to whom he owes money. After the killing, he's tormented by guilt over what he's done. A police captain, who's convinced the student committed the crime but can't prove it for lack of evidence, plays on the young man's guilt in order to get him to confess to the crime. Written by frankfob2@yahoo.com. Fear features Peter Cookson, Warren William, Anne Gwynne, Francis Pierlot, Nestor Paiva, James Cardwell and Lee 'lasses' White. The screenplay is written by Dennis Cooper and Alfred Zeisler which is inspired from Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. The music was composed by Edward J. Kay. Cinematography was done by Jackson Rose and editing by Ace Herman. The motion picture has a running time of 68 minutes. It was released on 2nd March 1946. Fear was made on a budget of ₹2 crore and at the box office it grossed only $20 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Monogram Pictures Corporation.
