The USS Kronos is under attack from the alien species. The crew must fight to survive and protect the rare mineral they came to extract. As the situation gets more desperate, Captain Carter realizes that the only way to save his crew is to make a sacrifice that will alter the course of human history forever. The USS Kronos emerges from the asteroid field, battered and broken. The surviving crew members are traumatized by their experience and struggle to come to terms with what they witnessed in deep space. The camera pans out to show a massive eclipse of the sun, symbolic of the darkness that has descended on the crew's lives.
