Madras is a story about two groups of a political party who get involved in controversy because of a wall built in their area. Anbu a political aspirant and his friend Kaali are sucked in this political turmoil. The screenplay was written by Pa. Ranjith. The film was produced by K.E. Gnanavel Raja, S.R. Prabhu, and S. R. Prakashbabu and directed by Pa. Ranjith. The director has brought forth the theme of the story which was based on happenings in his neighborhood. This 2014 political action drama stars Karthi, Catherine Tresa, Kalaiyarasan, Charles Vinoth, Riythvika, VIS. Jayapalan, Poster Nandakumar and Mime Gopi. As a preparation for his role in the movie, Karthi learned to play soccer and carrom. Clear cut editing by Praveen K.L and adept cinematography by Murali G makes it a watchable movie. It was released on 26 September 2014 and was distributed by Dream Factory, Studio Green and Kalasangham Films. The music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
