Gattu is a 2011 Hindi-language Drama motion picture written by Dilip Shukla, Ankur Tewari and Rajan Khosa. The movie is directed by Rajan Khosa and produced by Children's Film Society and India. In a small town in central India, kids and adults are equally obsessed with kite-flying. The airspace is dominated by a black kite called Kali with mysterious origins. A street kid Gattu, dreams of defeating Kali but fails. He discovers that the local school has a roof which will give him a vantage point. Impersonating as a student he sneaks into the school and must now pretend to study. The only problem -- he is illiterate! Nonetheless, the little street urchin takes up the challenge. Dreams aren't impossible when the desire is strong. Written by Wouter van der Sluis. Gattu features Mohammad Samad in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Zoya Arshad, Harshit Kaushik, Sarvasva Singh Pundir, Jayanta Das, Naresh Sharma and Md. Sohaib. The screenplay is written by Ankur Tewari, K.D.Satyam and Rajan Khosa. The music was composed by Sandesh Shandilya. Cinematography was done by Satya Rai Nagpaul and editing by Antara Lahiri. The motion picture has a running time of 90 minutes. It was released on 30th November 2012. Gattu was made on a budget of ₹2 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹13 lakh. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Rajshri Media.
