Glitter is a 2001 English-language Drama Musical film written by Cheryl L. West and Kate Lanier. The movie is directed by Vondie Curtis-hall and Vondie Curtis Hall and produced by Laurence Mark under the banner of 20th Century Fox in collaboration with Columbia Pictures, Butterfly MC Productions and Laurence Mark Productions. A young singer dates a disc jockey who helps her get into the music business, but their relationship become complicated as she ascends to super stardom. Glitter stars Mariah Carey in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Max Beesley, Terrence Howard, Da Brat, Tia Texada, Valarie Pettiford and Ann Magnuson. The music was composed by Terence Blanchard. Cinematography was done by Geoffrey Simpson and editing by Jeff Freeman. The motion picture has a running time of 104 minutes. It was released on 21st September 2001. Glitter was made on a budget of $22 million and at the box office it grossed only $5 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by 20th Century Fox.
