Green Lantern is a 2011 English-language Action Adventure motion picture written by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldberg. The movie is directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Donald De Line, Greg Berlanti and Geoff Johns under the banner of TriStar Pictures in collaboration with Tencent Pictures, Big Beach and Mr. Youree Productions. The film tells the story of Hal Jordan, a test pilot who is selected to become the first human member of an intergalactic police force called the Green Lantern Corps he is given a ring that grants him superpowers, and must confront Parallax, a being who threatens to upset the balance of power in the universe, while a new threat rises back on Earth. Green lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins and Andy Turner. The screenplay is written by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg which is inspired from Green Lantern by DC Comics. The music was composed by James Newton Howard. Green Lantern was made on a budget of $200 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $219 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Warner Bros. Pictures.
