Gundamma Katha is a 1962 Telugu-language Comedy Drama film written by Alur Chakrapani and directed by Kamalakara Kameshwara Rao and Kamalakara Kameswara Rao and produced by Alur Chakrapani, B Nagi Reddy, B. Nagi Reddy and Aluri Chakrapani under the banner of Vijaya Vauhini Studios. Gundamma, a rich widow, has one goal - to get her spoilt daughter married to a rich boy. She, however, treats her step daughter like a maid. Gundamma does not care about the step daughter's life or marriage. How two brothers, who are sons of a rich friend of Gundamma's husband, get married to the half-sisters and teach Gundamma a lesson forms the rest of the story. Written by Siri C. Gundamma katha features N. T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Suryakantham Peddibhotla Chalapati Rao, Taraka Rama Rao Nandamuri, Savitri Kommareddy, Jamuna Rao and Tilak Komod. The screenplay is written by Aluri Chakrapani and D. V. Narasaraju which is inspired from The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare Mane Thumbida Hennu by B. Vittalacharya. The music was composed by Ghantasala. Cinematography was done by Marcus Bartley and editing by G. Kalyana Sundaram and D. G. Jayaram. The movie has a running time of 166 minutes. It was released on 7th June 1962.
