Hairspray is a 2007 English-language Comedy Drama movie written by Leslie Dixon, John Waters, Mark O'donnell and Thomas Meehan. The movie is directed by Adam Shankman and produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron under the banner of Ingenious Media in collaboration with Zadan/Meron Productions, Storyline Entertainment and Offspring Entertainment. Pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Balti a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show. Hairspray features John Travolta, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Amanda Bynes, James Marsden, Queen Latifah and Vincenzo Calvano. The screenplay is written by Leslie Dixon which is inspired from Hairspray by John Waters Hairspray by Mark O'Donnell Thomas Meehan. The music was composed by Marc Shaiman. Cinematography was done by Bojan Bazelli and editing by Michael Tronick. The motion picture has a running time of 116 minutes. It was released on 23rd August 2007 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Hairspray was made on a budget of $75 million and at the box office it grossed only $6 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by New Line Cinema.
