Halloween is a 1978 English-language Horror Thriller motion picture directed by John Carpenter and produced by Debra Hill. The year is 1963, the night: Halloween. Police are called to 43 Lampkin Ln. only to discover that 15 year old Judith Myers has been stabbed to death, by her 6 year-old brother, Michael. After being institutionalized for 15 years, Myers breaks out on the night before Halloween. No one knows, nor wants to find out, what will happen on October 31st 1978 besides Myers' psychiatrist, Dr. Loomis. He knows Michael is coming back to Haddonfield, but by the time the town realizes it, it'll be too late for many people. Written by Massive Fan. Halloween features Donald Pleasence in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Jamie Lee Curtis, P. J. Soles, Nancy Loomis, Nancy Kyes, P.j. Soles and Charles Cyphers. The screenplay is written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The music was composed by John Carpenter. Cinematography was done by Dean Cundey and editing by Tommy Wallace and Charles Bornstein. The motion picture has a running time of 90 minutes. It was released on 13th January 1980 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Halloween was made on a budget of $10 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $80 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Compass International Pictures.
