Harry Brown is a 2009 English-language Comedy film written by Gary Young and directed by Daniel Barber and produced by Matthew Vaughn, Kris Thykier, Matthew Brown and Keith Bell under the banner of Marv Partners in collaboration with UK Film Council, HanWay Films, Prescience and Framestore Features. In England, retired Royal Marine Harry Brown spends his lonely life between the hospital, where his beloved wife Kath is terminally ill, and playing chess with his only friend Leonard Attwell in the Barge pub owned by Sid Rourke. After the death of Kath, Len tells his grieving friend the local gang is harassing him and he is carrying an old bayonet for self-defence. Harry suggests he to go to the police. When Len is beaten, and stabbed to deatry detective Inspector Alice Frampton and her partner Sergeant Terry Hicock are sent to investigate. They pay Harry a visit but don't have good news; the police have not found any other evidence, other than the bayonet, in order to arrest the hoodlums. This mean that should the case go to trial the gang would claim self-defence. Harry Brown s that justice will not be granted and decides to take matters into his own hands. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Harry brown stars Michael Caine in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Emily Mortimer, Charlie Creed-miles, David Bradley, Iain Glen, Sean Harris and Ben Drew. The music was composed by Martin Phipps along with Ruth Barrett, Pete Tong, Theo Green and Paul Rogers. Cinematography was done by Martin Ruhe and editing by Joe Walker. The film has a running time of 103 minutes. It was released on 11th November 2009. The Film was successful at box office. Harry Brown was made on a budget of $7 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $10 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Lionsgate UK.
