Hero No. 1 is a 1997 Hindi-language Comedy Musical motion picture written by Rumi Jaffery and Rumi Jaffrey. The movie is directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani under the banner of Digitalscape in collaboration with K/O Paper Products, Darby Pop Productions, Allspark Animation and Polygon Pictures. Two young Indians, Meena and Rajesh, meet in Europe and fall in love with each other, promising to get married when they return back to India.. Hero no. 1 stars Govinda in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor, Satish Shah, Kader Khan and Tiku Talsania. The music was composed by Anand-milind. Cinematography was done by K.S. Prakash Rao and editing by A. Muthu. It was released on 21st February 1997. The Film was successful at box office. Hero No. 1 was made on a budget of ₹6 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹17 crore. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by S. K. Enterprise Haslingden LTD.
