Iqbal is a 2005 Hindi-language Drama motion picture written by Nagesh Kukunoor, Vipul K. Rawal and Mir Ali Hussain. The movie is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and produced by Subhash Ghai under the banner of Sharp Entertainment. Iqbal, the deaf and mute son of a farmer, has a passion for the game of cricket and ks the tutelage of a washed-up, alcoholic ex-player. Iqbal stars Naseeruddin Shah, Shreyas Talpade, Girish Karnad, Yatin Karyekar, Prateeksha Lonkar, Shweta Basu Prasad and Vipul K. Rawal. The screenplay is written by Nagesh Kukunoor. The music was composed by IIFA Award winner Himesh Reshammiya along with Sukhwinder Singh and Salim Sulaiman. Cinematography was done by Sudeep Chatterjee and editing by Sanjib Datta. The movie has a running time of 132 minutes. It was released on 26th August 2005 in Hindi and Sign language languages. The Film was successful at box office. Iqbal was made on a budget of ₹2 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹3 crore. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Mukta Searchlight Films. At the 2006 IIFA Awards It won an award for Best Story. At the 2005 National Film Awards It also won an award for Best Supporting Actor (Naseeruddin Shah).
