Isle of Destiny is a 1940 English-language Adventure Drama motion picture written by Allan Vaughan Elston, Arthur Hoerl, Robert Lively and [m. Coates Webster. The movie is directed by Elmer Clifton and produced by Franklyn Warner under the banner of Franklyn Warner Productions in collaboration with Fine Arts Pictures. Society glamor girl/aviatrix Virginia Allerton decides to alter her around-the-world flight by stopping off on the Pacific isle of Palo Pango where her brother, Lieutenant Allerton is stationed with a detachment of U.S. Marines, including Stripes Thornton and Milly Barnes. Local smuggler Barton baits her into a trap using her plane for his gun-smuggling racket and she ends up wrecked on another island. Thornton, as a stowaway on Barton's gun-smuggling plane, and Barnes, by water in a stolen speed boat, rush to her rescue. Inda, the jealous native wife of Barton, with a penchant for dispatching people with poison darts from a blow gun, does her best to do the same for Virginia. Written by Les Adams. Isle of destiny features William Gargan in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Wallace Ford, June Lang, Gilbert Roland, Etienne Girardot, Katherine Demille and Grant Richards. The music was composed by C. Bakaleinikoff. Cinematography was done by Edward Linden and editing by Robert O. Crandall. The film has a running time of 95 minutes. It was released on 8th March 1940.
