Jiro Dreams of Sushi is a 2011 Japanese-language Documentary Drama motion picture directed by David Gelb and produced by Kevin Iwashina and Tom Pellegrini. In the basement of a Tokyo office building, 85 year old sushi master Jiro Ono works tirelessly in his world renowned restaurant, Sukiyabashi Jiro. As his son Yoshikazu faces the pressures of stepping into his father's shoes and taking over the legendary restaurant, Jiro relentlessly pursues his lifelong quest to create the perfect piece of sushi. Jiro dreams of sushi features Jiro Ono in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Yoshikazu Ono, Masuhiro Yamamoto, Daisuke Nakazama, Hachiro Mizutani, Harutaki Takahashi and Hiroki Fujita. Cinematography was done by David Gelb and editing by Brandon Driscoll-Luttringer. The movie has a running time of 81 minutes. It was released on 26th July 2012. The movie made a box office gross of $2 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Magnolia Pictures.
