Khandhar is a 1984 Hindi-language Drama film written and directed by Mrinal Sen and produced by Jagadish Choukhani. Subhash is a photographer from the city, who has come to take pictures of some old temples and ruins in a village. Ruins fascinate him. While in the village, he gets acquainted with a young woman, Jamini, who has had her heart broken in the past, by another visitor from the big city. Will history repeat itself, or will she find a way out of the ruins at last? Written by ajji-2. Khandhar features Shabana Azmi in the title role along with Naseeruddin Shah, Sreela Majumdar, Annu Kapoor, Pankaj Kapur, Gita Sen and Rajen Tarafdar in supporting roles. The screenplay is written by Mrinal Sen and Premendra Mitra which is inspired from Telenapota Abishkar by Premendra Mitra. The music was composed by Bhaskar Chandavarkar. Cinematography was done by K. K. Mahajan and editing by Mrinmoy Chakraborty. It was released on 8th June 1984.
