King of Beggars is a 1992 Cantonese-language Action Comedy film written by Gordon Chan and John Chan. The movie is directed by Gordon Chan and produced by Stephen Shiu under the banner of Win's Movie Productions. The spoilt son of a millionaire finds the love of his life, but she will only accept him if he proves himself as a kung-fu master. He enters and wins the Kung-Fu Scholar tournament, little realizing that this victory will lead to him becoming penniless, homeless and sleepy. One day, while sleeping under a tree, he encounters a beggar he helped when he was still rich.. Written by Niz. King of beggars stars Stephen Chow in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Sharla Cheung, Ng Man-tat, Norman Chui, Man Cheung, Man-tat Ng and Norman Chu. The music was composed by Joseph Koo. Cinematography was done by David Chung and Ma Koon-wah and editing by Mei Fung, Kwong Chi-leung and Yu Sai-lun. The movie has a running time of 100 minutes. It was released on 17th December 1992. The motion picture made a box office gross of $31 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Gala Film Distribution Limited.
