Lean on Pete is a 2017 English-language Adventure Drama motion picture written and directed by Andrew Haigh and produced by Tristan Goligher under the banner of The Bureau in collaboration with Film4 Productions and British Film Council. The film follows fifteen-year-old Charley Thompson. He wants a home, food on the table and a high school he can attend for than part of the year. As the son of a single father working in warehouses across the Pacific Northwest, stability is hard to find. Hoping for a new start they move to Portland, Oregon where Charley takes a summer job, with a washed-up horse trainer, and befriends a failing racehorse named Lean on Pete. Lean on pete features Charlie Plummer in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Chlo Sevigny, Travis Fimmel, Steve Buscemi, Amy Seimetz, Jason Beem and Tolo Tuitele. The screenplay is written by Andrew Haigh which is inspired from Lean on Pete by Willy Vlautin. The music was composed by James Edward Barker. Cinematography was done by Magnus Joenck and editing by Jonathan Alberts. The film has a running time of 121 minutes. It was released on 5th April 2018 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Lean on Pete was made on a budget of $8 million and at the box office it grossed only $2 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Curzon Artificial Eye.
