Life with Father is a 1947 English-language Comedy film directed by Michael Curtiz and produced by Robert Buckner. In late nineteenth century New York City, a Wall Street broker likes to think his house runs his way, but finds himself constantly bemused at how much of what happens is down to his wife. His children are also stretching their wings, discovering girls and making money out of patent medicine selling. When it comes to light he has never been baptized and everyone starts insisting he must do so, it all starts to get a bit too much. Written by Jeremy Perkins {J-26}. Life with father stars William Powell, Irene Dunne, Elizabeth Taylor, Edmund Gwenn, Zasu Pitts, Jimmy Lydon and Jock C. Watt. The screenplay is written by Donald Ogden Stewart which is inspired from Life with Father 1935 novel by Clarence Day 1939 play by Howard Lindsay Russel Crouse. The music was composed by Max Steiner. Cinematography was done by William V. Skall and J. Peverell Marley and editing by George Amy. The movie has a running time of 118 min. It was released on 13th September 1947 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Life with Father was made on a budget of $4 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $6 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Warner Bros.
