Mahabharat is a 1965 Hindi-language Action Adventure movie written by Pandit Madhur, C.k. Mast, Vishwanath Pande, Vedavyas and Veda Vyasa. The movie is directed by Babubhai Mistri and produced by A. A. Nadiadwala under the banner of Filmation Associates in collaboration with 20th Century Fox Television. Pandu and Dhirtrashtra are two brothers who rule Hastinapur. Pandu gets married to Kunti, who conceives five sons and names them Yudhister.. Mahabharat stars Abhi Bhattacharya, Pradeep Kumar, Dara Singh, Padmini Ramachandran, Manher Desai, Bhushan Tiwari and Johnny Whisky. The music was composed by Chitra Gupta along with Chitragupta. Cinematography was done by Narendra Mistry and Peter Parreira and editing by Kamlakar Karkhanis. The film has a running time of 163 minutes. It was released on 1st January 1965. Mahabharat was made on a budget of ₹25 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹1 crore. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by 20th Television.
