Marie Antoinette is a 2006 English-language Biography Drama film written and directed by Sofia Coppola and produced by Ross Katz and Sofia Coppola under the banner of Pricel in collaboration with Tohokushinsha Film Corporation, American Zoetrope and Path. The retelling of France's iconic but ill-fated queen, Marie Antoinette. From her betrothal and marriage to Louis XVI at 15 to her reign as queen at 19 and to the end of her reign as queen, and ultimately the fall of Versailles. Marie antoinette stars Kirsten Dunst in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Jason Schwartzman, Judy Davis, Rip Torn, Rose Byrne, Asia Argento and Molly Shannon. The movie is based on Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser. Cinematography was done by Lance Acord and editing by Sarah Flack. The movie has a running time of 123 minutes. It was released on 20th October 2006. The Film was successful at box office. Marie Antoinette was made on a budget of $40 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $60 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Columbia Pictures. At the 2007 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Achievement in Costume Design.
