Maya Bazaar is a 1957 Tamil-language Comedy Drama movie directed by K. V. Reddy and produced by B. Nagi Reddy and Aluri Chakrapani under the banner of Vijaya Vauhini Studios. The story revolves around the characters in the Hindu Epic The Mahabharata and is set in Dwaraka, the hometown of Lord Krishna (NTR). Arjuna's son Abhimanyu(ANR) falls in love with Balarama's daughter Sasirekha(Savitri). When the Pandava's lose their kingdom in the infamous game of dice to the Kaurava's, Balarama promises his daughters hand to Duryodhana's son, there by breaking the promise made to Subhadra(Abhimanu's mother and Balarama's sister). The rest of the movie is how Bhima's son Ghatotkacha(SVR) helps the lovers unite with his magic. Written by Chandu Parimi. Maya bazaar features N. T. Rama Rao in the title role along with an ensemble cast including S. V. Ranga Rao, Taraka Rama Rao Nandamuri, S.v. Ranga Rao, Savitri Kommareddy, Gemini Ganesan and Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The screenplay is written by Kadiri Venkata Reddy. The music was composed by Ghantasala along with S. Rajeswara Rao. Cinematography was done by Marcus Bartley and editing by C. P. Jambulingam and G. Kalyanasundaram. The motion picture has a running time of 184-174 minutes. It was released on 27th March 1957 in Telugu and Tamil languages. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Vijaya Vauhini Studios.
