Mela is a 1971 Hindi-language Drama Family motion picture written by Kaushal Bharati and directed by Prakash Mehra and produced by A.a Nadiadwala. In rural India a small village is ruled by a Panchayat, a group of right-wing Hindu men who run the lives of the villagers dictatorially.. Mela features Sanjay Khan, Feroz Khan, Mumtaz Askari, Rajendra Nath Malhotra, Randhir, Lalita Pawar and Bhushan Tiwari. The music was composed by Rahul Dev Burman along with R.d. Burman. It was released on 30th June 1971. Mela was made on a budget of ₹18 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹15 crore. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by A.G. Films Ltd.
