Mirza Ghalib is a 1954 Hindi-language Drama History motion picture written by Rajinder Singh Bedi, Saadat Hassan Manto and J.k. Nanda. The movie is directed by Sohrab Modi and produced by Sohrab Modi under the banner of Minerva Movietone. Suraiya's singing and her acting was specially applauded by the Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru, who remarked to her, You have brought back Ghalib to life, in a special screening of the film at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Mirza ghalib stars Bharat Bhushan in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Nigar Sultana, Durga Khote, Murad, Mukri, Ulhas and Kumkum. The screenplay is written by J. K. Nanda. The music was composed by Ghulam Mohammed. Cinematography was done by V. Avadhoot and editing by D. Shirdhankar and P. Balachandran. The movie has a running time of 145 minutes. It was released on 10th December 1954. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Minerva Movietone. At the 1955 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Feature Film.
