Naxal is a 2015 Bengali-language History Action film written by Padmanabha Dasgupta and Debaditya Bandhyopadhyay. The movie is directed by Debaditya Bandyopadhyay and produced by Mainakh Saha and Blue Coffee Moviez & Entertainment In Association With The Kraft House. The period was early 1970s. Brilliant brains from Calcutta Medical College to Presidency College, from Calcutta University to Bengal Engineering College, the meritorious boys and girls plunged into the revolution for social reform. They had given up their prosperous and promising careers for the sake of the society. However, the administration could eventually overcome the surge and sadly, a few miscreants also took advantage of the general unrest for personal gain that eventually brought infamy to the revolution that was otherwise a dedicated and a respectable one. Thus the careers of these bright minds were doomed and many of them were killed and rest was forced to flee or go underground. Naxal features Mithun Chakraborty in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Dhritiman Chatterjee, Gargi Roychowdhury, Shankar Chakraborty, Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Srabanti Banerjee and Kopil Bora. The screenplay is written by Padmanabha Dasgupta and Pulok Das. The music was composed by Rupam Islam & Allan Ao. Cinematography was done by Bijoy Anand and editing by Sanjib Dutta. The movie has a running time of 1-49 Minutes. It was released on 19th June 2015. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by The Kraft House.
