Nothing in Common is a 1986 English-language Comedy Drama motion picture written by Rick Podell and Michael Preminger. The movie is directed by Garry Marshall and produced by Nick Abdo, Alexandra Rose and Roger M. Rothstein under the banner of Delphi Films in collaboration with Rastar. David Basner is a successful advertising executive who has it all: Money, happiness, and women who want him. Then one day his world falls apart when his mother leaves his father. Now, he must balance his life between his mother, who is happy with her newfound independence, and his father, a recently laid off salesman who is hard-headed, stubborn, and hides a lot from David. Now David must cope with the downfall of his family and his life. Written by Pat McCurry. Nothing in common stars Tom Hanks in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Jackie Gleason, Eva Marie Saint, Hector Elizondo, Barry Corbin, Bess Armstrong and Sela Ward. The music was composed by Patrick Leonard. Cinematography was done by John A. Alonzo and editing by Glenn Farr. The movie has a running time of 118 minutes. It was released on 30th July 1986. The Film was successful at box office. Nothing in Common was made on a budget of $12 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $32 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by TriStar Pictures.
