Oklahoma! is a 1955 English-language Comedy Drama motion picture directed by Fred Zinnemann and produced by Arthur Hornblow Jr. Set in Oklahoma Territory, it tells the story of farm girl Laurey Williams and her courtship by two rival suitors, cowboy Curly McLain and the sinister and frightening farmhand Jud Fry . Oklahoma! features Gordon Macrae, Gloria Grahame, Gene Nelson, Charlotte Greenwood, Eddie Albert, James Whitmore and Jack Tornek. The screenplay is written by Sonya Levien and William Ludwig which is inspired from Oklahoma! by Rodgers and Hammerstein Green Grow The Lilacs by Lynn Riggs. The music was composed by Richard Rodgers. Cinematography was done by Robert Surtees and Floyd Crosby and editing by George Boemler and Gene Ruggiero. The motion picture has a running time of 145 minutes. It was released on 16th November 1956 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released.
