Papillon is a 2018 English-language Crime Drama film written by Dalton Trumbo, Lorenzo Semple Jr. and Aaron Guzikowski. The movie is directed by Michael Noer and produced by Joey Mcfarland, Ram Bergman, David Koplan and Roger Corbi under the banner of Czech Anglo Productions in collaboration with Ram Bergman Productions, FishCorb Films and Red Granite Pictures. Based on the international best-selling autobiographic books Papillon and Banco, PAPILLON follows the epic story of Henri Papillon Charrière (Charlie Hunnam), a safecracker from the Parisian underworld who is framed for murder and condemned to life in the notorious penal colony on Devil's Island. Determined to regain his freedom, Papillon forms an unlikely alliance with quirky convicted counterfeiter Louis Dega (Rami Malek), who in exchange for protection, agrees to finance Papillon's escape. Papillon features Charlie Hunnam in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Roland M Ller, Rami Malek, Yorick Van Wageningen, Eve Hewson, Tommy Flanagan and Nina Senicar. The screenplay is written by Aaron Guzikowski which is inspired from Papillon by Henri Charri re Banco by Henri Charri re Papillon by Dalton Trumbo Lorenzo Semple Jr. The music was composed by David Buckley. Cinematography was done by Hagen Bogdanski and editing by John Axelrad and Lee Haugen. The film has a running time of 133 minutes. It was released on 30th August 2018. The motion picture made a box office gross of $4 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Bleecker Street.
