Ponyo is a 2008 Japanese-language Animation Family motion picture written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Toshio Suzuki under the banner of Studio Ghibli. Ponyo stars Tomoko Yamaguchi, Kazushige Nagashima, Y Ki Amami, George Tokoro, Yuria Nara, Hiroki Doi and Tomoko Naraoka. The music was composed by Joe Hisaishi. Cinematography was done by Atsushi Okui and editing by Takeshi Seyama. The film has a running time of 101 minutes. It was released on 14th August 2009. Ponyo was made on a budget of ¥3 billion and at the box office it grossed only $202 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Toho.
