Powder is a 1995 English-language Drama Fantasy movie written and directed by Victor Salva and produced by Roger Birnbaum and Daniel Grodnik under the banner of Hollywood Pictures in collaboration with Caravan Pictures, Roger Birnbaum Productions and Daniel Grodnik Productions. When sheriff Barnum investigates the death of an elderly rural resident, he discovers a teenage grandson living in the basement. Raised by his grandparents, he has experienced the world only through books, never leaving the family farm. He is sent to a state home for boys where he has trouble fitting in socially. His odd appearance and unusual abilities cause the small town residents to fear and ridicule him. However, not all are afraid. Some begin to view his potential and gifts with wonderment. Written by Robert B. Young. Powder stars Mary Steenburgen in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Sean Patrick Flanery, Lance Henriksen, Jeff Goldblum, Brandon Smith, Bradford Tatum and Susan Tyrrell. The music was composed by Jerry Goldsmith. Cinematography was done by Jerzy Zieli ski and editing by Dennis M. Hill. The motion picture has a running time of 111 minutes. It was released on 25th January 1996. Powder was made on a budget of $9 million and at the box office it grossed only $0 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Buena Vista Pictures.
