Proxy is a 1977 Bengali-language Drama movie written by Dinen Gupta, Gauri Prasanna Mazumder and Manju Swaraj. The movie is directed by Dinen Gupta and Manju Swaraj and produced by K. A. Suresh under the banner of Suresh Arts. Proxy features Ganesh in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Amulya, Aparna Sen, Ranjit Mallick, Anup Kumar, Chhaya Devi and Kajal Banerjee. The music was composed by National Award winner Hemanta Mukherjee along with V. Harikrishna. Cinematography was done by B. Suresh Babu. It was released on 16th December 1977. Deepa, an upcoming singer, has a twin sister, Rupa. She admires Arun, a renowned singer, while Rupa starts dating his twin brother Tarun. Unaware of the differences, confusion creates a mess where they accuse each other of double-timing and having a split personality. Will they realize the root of the chaos or end up getting hurt in extremities?
