Queen on Katwe is a 2016 English-language Biography Drama show written by William Wheeler and Tim Crothers. The series is directed by Mira Nair and produced by John B. Carls, Lydia Dean Pilcher and John Carls. A Ugandan girl s her world rapidly change after being introduced to the game of chess. Queen on katwe stars David Oyelowo in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Lupita Nyong'o, Madina Nalwanga, Esteri Tebandeke, Peter Odeke, Sheebah Karungi and Martin Kabanza. The screenplay is written by William Wheeler which is inspired from The Queen of Katwe by Tim Crothers. The music was composed by Alex Heffes. Cinematography was done by Sean Bobbitt and editing by Barry Alexander Brown. The series has a running time of 124 minutes for each episode. It was released on 30th September 2016 in English and Luganda languages. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released.
