Redu is a 2018 English-language Comedy Family film directed by Francis Lawrence and produced by Vidhi Kasliwal, Peter Chernin, Steven Zaillian, Jenno Topping and David Ready under the banner of TSG Entertainment in collaboration with Chernin Entertainment. REDU is a story of TATU and his family, set in the mid 1970's. Tatu, a short tempered, irate middle-aged man living in a small village, is fascinated and curious to a radio, a small portable transistor, for the first time in his life. Serendipitous circumstances allow him to possess a radio himself. The gadget makes his ordinary life full of excitement and fun. Tatu soon gets very attached to the radio, the newest member of his family. But nothing lasts forever. A sudden loss of the prized possession leaves Tatu disheartened and dejected. Refusing to accept this altered reality, Tatu embarks on a quest to reclaim what once belonged to him. Redu is a simple story of one man's life, love, values, and his will to go on, framed against the spectacular backdrop of rural Konkan. Redu stars Jennifer Lawrence in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-louise Parker, Jeremy Irons and Vinamra Babhal. The screenplay is written by Justin Haythe which is inspired from Red Sparrow by Jason Matthews. The music was composed by James Newton Howard. Cinematography was done by Jo Willems and editing by Alan Edward Bell. The movie has a running time of 140 minutes. It was released on 18th May 2018. The Film was successful at box office. Redu was made on a budget of $69 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $151 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by 20th Century Fox.
