Saamy is a 2003 Tamil-language Action Drama motion picture written and directed by Hari Gopalakrishnan and produced by K. Balachander and Pushpa Kandasamy under the banner of Kavithalayaa Productions. Aaruchami (Vikram) is a Deputy Commissioner of Police of Thirunelveli who efficiently brings the city under control. At the outset, he pretends to be a corrupt cop by accepting bribes from the very influential Annachi. Later Saami starts to rebel against him and the rest is how he suceeds in expelling the corrupt politicians. Written by RC. Saamy stars Vikram in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Vivek, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Ramesh Khanna, Trisha Krishnan, Vijayakumar and Delhi Ganesh. The music was composed by Harris Jayaraj. Cinematography was done by Priyan and editing by V. T. Vijayan. The motion picture has a running time of 161 minutes. It was released on 1st May 2003. The Film was successful at box office. Saamy was made on a budget of ₹5 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹30 crore.
