School of Rock is a 2003 English-language Comedy Family motion picture written by Mike White and directed by Richard Linklater and produced by Scott Rudin under the banner of Scott Rudin Productions. After being kicked out of a rock band, Dewey Finn becomes a substitute teacher of a strict elementary private school, only to try and turn it into a rock band. School of rock features Jack Black in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Joan Cusack, Mike White, Sarah Silverman, Miranda Cosgrove, Adam Pascal and Lucas Papaelias. The music was composed by Craig Wedren. Cinematography was done by Rogier Stoffers and editing by Sandra Adair. The motion picture has a running time of 109 minutes. It was released on 31st December 2003 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. School of Rock was made on a budget of $35 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $131 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Paramount Pictures.
