Shadowlands is a 1993 English-language Biography Drama film written by William Nicholson and directed by Richard Attenborough and produced by Richard Attenborough and Brian Eastman under the banner of Price Entertainment in collaboration with Spelling Films International. C.S. Lewis, a world-renowned Christian theologian, writer, and professor, leads a passionless life until he meets a spirited poet from the U.S. Shadowlands stars Anthony Hopkins, Debra Winger, Julian Fellowes, Roddy Maude-roxby, Michael Denison, Andrew Seear and Jesse James Sims. The screenplay is written by William Nicholson which is inspired from Shadowlands by William Nicholson. The music was composed by George Fenton. Cinematography was done by Roger Pratt and editing by Lesley Walker. The film has a running time of 131 minutes. It was released on 30th December 1993 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Shadowlands was made on a budget of $22 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $25 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Savoy Pictures.
