Sixteen Candles is a 1984 English-language Comedy Romance film written and directed by John Hughes and produced by Hilton A. Green, Michelle Manning and Ned Tanen under the banner of Universal Pictures in collaboration with Channel Productions. Samantha's life is going downhill fast. The sixteen-year-old has a crush on the most popular boy in school, and the geekiest boy in school has a crush on her. Her sister's getting married, and with all the excitement the rest of her family forgets her birthday! Add all this to a pair of horrendously embarrassing grandparents, a foreign exchange student named Long Duk Dong, and we have the makings of a hilarious journey into young womanhood. The music was composed by Ira Newborn. Cinematography was done by Bobby Byrne and editing by Edward Warschillka. The motion picture has a running time of 93 minutes. It was released on 4th May 1984. The Film was successful at box office. Sixteen Candles was made on a budget of $6 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $23 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Universal Pictures.
