Sobibor is a 2018 Russian-language Drama History movie directed by Konstantin Khabensky and produced by Elmira Aynulova, Nataliya Doroshkevich, Kestutis Drazdauskas and Mariya Zhuromskaya under the banner of Cinema Production in collaboration with Fetisov Illusion. Sobibor is based on the history of the Sobibór extermination camp uprising during WWII and Soviet officer Alexander Pechersky. When he was a POW in Sobibor, he managed to do the impossible - to organize a revolt and mass escape of the prisoners. Many of the escapees were later caught and died - the rest led by Pechersky managed to join the partisans. Script based on the book by Ilya Vasiliev: Alexander Pechersky: Breakthrough to Immortality. Sobibor stars Konstantin Khabensky in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Christopher Lambert, Michalina Olszanska, Wolfgang Cerny, Maximilian Dirr, Mariya Kozhevnikova and Philippe Reinhardt. The screenplay is written by Konstantin Khabensky, Aleksandr Adabashyan, Andrei Nazarov and Anna Chernakova. The music was composed by Kuzma Bodrov. Cinematography was done by Ramunas Greicius and editing by Yuriy Troyankin. It was released on 3rd May 2018 in Russian, German, Dutch, Polish and Yiddish languages. The Film was successful at box office. Sobibor was made on a budget of $2 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $5 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Karoprokat.
