Splice is a 2009 English-language Drama Horror film directed by Vincenzo Natali and produced by Steve Hoban under the banner of Dark Castle Entertainment in collaboration with Copperheart Entertainment, Gaumont, Telefilm Canada and Ontario Media Development Corporation. Two young rebellious scientists are told by their employers to halt groundbreaking work that has n them produce new creatures with medical benefits by splicing together multiple organisms' DNA. They decide to secretly continue their work, but this time splicing in human DNA. Written by Anonymous. Splice features Adrien Brody in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Sarah Polley, Delphine Chan Ac, Delphine Chanéac, Brandon Mcgibbon, Simona Maicanescu and David Hewlett. The screenplay is written by Vincenzo Natali, Antoinette Terry Bryant and Doug Taylor. The music was composed by Cyrille Aufort. Cinematography was done by Tetsuo Nagata and editing by Michele Conroy. The film has a running time of 104 minutes. It was released on 24th February 2010. Splice was made on a budget of $30 million and at the box office it grossed only $27 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Gaumont.
