The Boston Globe magazine’s spotlight team who write investigative articles uncover a pattern of sexual of children by a Catholic priest in Massachusetts. Spotlight a 2015 biographical drama was written by Josh Singer, Tom McCarthy and directed by Tom McCarthy. It features Mark Ruffalo as the protagonists along with Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery, and Stanley Tucci in supporting roles. To imitate real Walter Robinson properly Michael Keaton spent time with him. The film was produced by Blye Pagon Faust, Steve Golin, Nicole Rocklin, and Michael Sugar. It features music composed by Howard Shore. Masanobu Takayanagi handled the cinematography and Tom McArdle served as the editor. Production companies involved in the making were Participant Media, First Look Media, Anonymous Content and Spotlight film and the distribution rights were acquired by Open Road Films. It was released on 6 November 2015 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. The film was made on a budget of $20 million and it grossed $98 million at the box office. At the 2016 Oscars, it had won 2 awards including Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best Writing, Original Screenplay. Most of the reporters who uncovered these scandals were Roman Catholics. The MPAA has categorized the movie under R certification.
