Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back is a 1980 English-language Action Adventure motion picture written by Leigh Brackett, Lawrence Kasdan and George Lucas. The movie is directed by Irvin Kershner and produced by Gary Kurtz under the banner of Lucasfilm Ltd. After the rebels are overpowered by the Empire on their newly established base, Luke Skywalker begins Jedi training with Master Yoda. His friends accept shelter from a questionable ally as Darth Vader hunts them in a plan to capture Luke. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by 20th Century Fox. At the 1981 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Sound.
