Thalappavu is a 2008 Malayalam-language Drama movie written by Babu Janardhanan and Mohan. The movie is directed by Madhupal Kannambath and produced by Mohan Rao. The movie is based on a true story about the confession of a police constable about gunning down a Naxalite (Arikkad Varghese) in a fake encounter as per the order of his superiors in 1970. Thalappavu stars Atul Kulkarni in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Maniyanpilla Raju, Jagathy Sreekumar, Dhanya Mary Varghese, Arun Lal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Santha Devi. The music was composed by Alex Paul along with Shyam Dharman. Cinematography was done by Alagappan N and editing by Don Max. It was released on 12th September 2008. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Lal Release.
