The Accused is a 1988 English-language Drama motion picture written by Tom Topor and directed by Jonathan Kaplan and produced by Stanley R. Jaffe and Sherry Lansing. After a young woman suffers a brutal gang rape in a bar one night, a prosecutor assists in bringing the perpetrators to justice, including the ones who encouraged and cheered on the attack. The accused stars Kelly Mcgillis, Jodie Foster, Bernie Coulson, Leo Rossi, Ann Hearn, Carmen Argenziano and David Stark. The music was composed by Brad Fiedel. Cinematography was done by Ralf D. Bode and editing by O. Nicholas Brown and Gerard B. Greenberg. The movie has a running time of 111 minutes. It was released on 14th October 1988 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. The Accused was made on a budget of $6 million and at the box office it grossed only $1 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Paramount Pictures. At the 1989 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jodie Foster).
