The Beautician and the Beast is a 1997 English-language Comedy Romance movie written by Todd Graff and directed by Ken Kwapis and produced by Todd Graff and Hawk Koch under the banner of High School Sweethearts in collaboration with Paramount Pictures. A beautician in America is mistakenly thought to be an academic teacher by a representative of an Eastern European dictator. She is invited to their country on that mistaken belief and is asked to be the tutor of the dictator's children. While there, she tries to Westernize the whole country. Written by Tony Berkoff. The beautician and the beast features Fran Drescher, Timothy Dalton, Lisa Jakub, Ian Mcneice, Patrick Malahide, Michael Lerner and Sharice Zulo. The music was composed by Cliff Eidelman. Cinematography was done by Peter Lyons Collister and editing by Jon Poll. The movie has a running time of 107 minutes. It was released on 10th April 1997. The Beautician and the Beast was made on a budget of $16 million and at the box office it grossed only $11 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Paramount Pictures.
