The Helper is a 2017 English-language Documentary motion picture. The Helper chronicles diverse stories from Hong Kong's migrant domestic workers, exploring the immense contribution they make to society in the face of heart-breaking separation from their loved ones. The Unsung Heroes, a choir of 50 Filipinas prepare to sing the anthemic I Wish I Could Kiss You Goodnight before an audience of thousands at Hong Kong's Clockenflap music festival. Will they be ready to perform with professionals in time? From Hong Kong's peaks to the top of the world, helper/avid climber Liza attempts to summit Island Peak in the Himalayas for the second time. Is her infectious spirit and determination enough? The film explores the challenges faced by Nurul, a new mother, ensnared within the legal system with only local NGO's helping her to stay afloat. Will she win her fight for justice? The overarching message is a positive one, giving a human face to an often-critiqued community, highlighting their tenacity and countering negativity with uplifting stories of achievement.
