The Hurt Locker is a 2009 English-language Drama History film written by Mark Boal and directed by Kathryn Bigelow and produced by Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Boal, Nicolas Chartier and Greg Shapiro under the banner of Voltage Pictures in collaboration with Grosvenor Park Media, Film Capital Europe Funds, First Light Productions and Kingsgate Films. The film follows an Iraq War Explosive Ordnance Disposal team who are targeted by insurgents and shows their psychological reactions to the stress of combat. The hurt locker features Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Evangeline Lilly, Ralph Fiennes, David Morse and Matt Ward. The music was composed by Marco Beltrami along with Buck Sanders. Cinematography was done by Barry Ackroyd and editing by Chris Innis and Bob Murawski. The movie has a running time of 131 minutes. It was released on 9th April 2010 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Hurt Locker was made on a budget of $15 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $49 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Summit Entertainment. At the 2010 Oscar Awards It won 6 awards including: Best Motion Picture of the Year, Best Achievement in Directing, Best Writing, Original Screenplay, Best Achievement in Film Editing, Best Achievement in Sound Mixing and Best Achievement in Sound Editing. At the 2010 BAFTA Awards It also won an award for Best Director.
